Internet Direct a.k.a. "Indy" (formely Winshoes)
Why new name: During development Winshoes 8 was code named "Project Mercury". Because of the amount of work that was put into Winshoes 8, and the fact that in the future Winshoes will also work on Linux we felt the need to drop the "WINdows" part of the name. "Shoes" was not very appealing so we came up with a new name. That new name is "Internet Direct", or Indy for short.

Whats New?
Indy has been a major undertaking to say the least. Here is a quick summary of some of the features.

  • Complete Rebuild - Indy is not just an upgrade to Winshoes 7. Winshoes 8 was redesigned from the ground up and rebult line by line. We started Indy with one source file, and ported or rewrote each individual line. No code escaped scrutiny.
  • Documentation - A complete documentation effort is now under way.
  • New Demos - New and better demos.
  • Linux Support - Kylix will be supported.
  • New Features - Many new features and components, way to numerous to list here.
Indy is NOT source compatible with Winshoes 7. They work very similar and once class names have been adjusted, most source code can be adjusted with minimal changes. Also since Indy uses different class names, both Winshoes 7 and Indy can be loaded and active at the same time.
Indy will be included in both Delphi 6 and Kylix.
